If you’ve tried to drop items for a friend in Fortnite Save the World recently and noticed nothing happened — you’re not imagining things. Epic Games officially removed item sharing in STW, and a lot of players are left wondering: is it still possible to get items from other players at all?

The short answer is yes — but the method has changed. Here’s everything you need to know.

What Happened to Item Trading in STW?

With the v37.20 update released on September 10, 2025, Epic Games removed item sharing from all core gameplay modes, including the Campaign and Storm Shield.

What this means practically:

• Dropped items on the ground are no longer visible to other players
• Other players cannot pick up or interact with items you drop
• Traditional player-to-player trading as everyone knew it is completely gone

This was a significant change for the STW community, especially for players who relied on trading to gear up faster or complete their collections.

Why Did Epic Remove Trading?

Epic never gave a fully detailed explanation, but the move was widely expected. Item trading in STW had long been associated with duplicated items (“duped” items), which created an economy Epic couldn’t control. The v37.20 patch was the final step in shutting that down entirely.

So How Do People Still Get Items?

Even though traditional dropping is gone, alternative in-game delivery methods still work — and that’s exactly what we use at STWItems.com.

Here’s how our delivery works:

Method 1 — Stormshield Trap Delivery (Trap Materials)

For trap materials, delivery is done by building traps directly on your Storm Shield. Once our team has placed the structures, you simply destroy them to collect the materials. No drops, no trading — fully within the current game mechanics.

Method 2 — Mission Reward Delivery (Evolution Materials, XP and Weapons)

Some items are delivered as mission rewards. You join a party with our team, and after the mission is completed (usually 15–20 minutes), you receive the rewards automatically. You don’t even need to actively play — you can stay AFK and collect the rewards at the end.

What Items Can’t Be Delivered?

Due to the nature of the delivery method, certain materials cannot be transferred via stormshield traps because they aren’t used to craft trap structures. These include:

• Sunbeam
• Brightcore
• Coal
• Blast Powder
• Active Powercells
• Resin

Everything else available in our store can be delivered without issues.
